New project of automatic grinding and polishing machine for pipes external surface finishing to Russia

Client already have an automatic bundles steel pipe cutting line and plan to lauch a polishing line
that have function of automatic pipe loading, feeding and polishing.

Technical assignment for automatic bundles of pipes grinding and polishing machine.

1) Application area
Grinding of pipes external surface made of different mettals.

2) Purpose
Grinding of pipes external surface is performed in the purpose of high quality product receipt by
removing of pits, notches, grooves and other surface defects.

3) Description of the production process
Feeding of pipes into the grinding and polishing machine is performed in packages by electric bridge
crane.
Grinding machine has four grinding units that may be equipped with grinding wheels as well as abrasive belts.
The choice of exact number of grinding units and their tools depends on the quality of external pipe
surface.
While grinding the whole external pipe surface the following machine tools are used (in the direction
of pipeflow):

• grinding unit 1; grinding wheel with graininess 80;
• grinding unit 2; grinding wheel with graininess 80;
• grinding unit 3, abrasibe belt with graininess 40;
• grinding unit 4; abrasibe belt with graininess 10

Pipe diameter: 38-273mm
Pipe wall thickness: 3-30mm
Pipe length: 4-12.5 meters
Pipe weight: up to 1500kgs/pcs
Overall pipe out-of-straightness: up to 0.2%
End pipe out-of-straightness: 1.5 mm by 1 m
